Each year, some leave behind extra t-shirts, shorts, scrubs, tennis shoes, toiletries, etc. to help locals out (and lighten our bags on the return trip).
Can I bring dental supplies?
Of course! Whether bringing your own supplies or supplies requested by Sonrisas Siempre, please let Dr. Steve Ellinwood (Steve@SonrisasSiempre.org) and Terri Bock (TerriB@drellinwood.com) know. This is crucial to our inventory process.
Please also check the FAA website for confirmation on materials and items which are safe for travel. For a listing of hazardous materials, as defined by the FAA, Click Here.
How many bags am I allowed?
Everyone is allowed one (1) checked bag, one (1) carry-on & one (1) personal item. Those traveling with dental supplies are allowed to pack and check a second bag, if needed. However, if your supplies will fit into one of your other bags that is fine. The key is to condense as much as possible for everyone’s benefit! Checked baggage is limited to 50 pounds; you will be responsible for any charges for checked baggage that exceeds the weight limit of 50 pounds.
Please, please, please be sure you have a luggage tag of some sort on each bag (checked and carry-on). It also does not hurt to place a neon colored piece of tape or something to that effect to easily identify your bags
Is there laundry service available?
Yes! You can take advantage of the inexpensive laundry services at the hotel. You will need to see the Front Desk at the hotel to arrange for these services.
What else should I pack?
Toiletry items. Medications. Camera. Reusable water bottle. Bug spray. Sunscreen. Hand sanitizer. Backpack. Your tablet or laptop. Snacks. Dentists/Hygienists will want to bring their loupes (and illumination).
NOTE: There is no need for a travel voltage/power converter. The hotel has a hair dryer in each room.
